This item is a self striping yarn using the 5 natural colors from the sheep on our farm. I collect odds and ends of leftover wool from spinning or felting projects, and save up enough of the 5 colors to make this fetching self striping yarn. I spin each color in equal increments ( I weigh each portion carefully) into a single long strand, then I chain ply to make a cushy 3 ply yarn. The colors are brown (moorit), Fawn, Cream, Black and Grey.

I've included a few shots to show what the join looks like, I attempt to make the color switch as seamless as possible. I also included a photo of a pair of fingerless mitts I made (sorry, they are not for sale) so you can see what the yarn looks like knit up. The pattern was pioneer gloves, and this set of mitts weighs 2.07 oz.

As I can't tie this skein to a particular ewe as per most of my listings, I include a nice shot of a sample of my flock of beautiful adult ewes on the summer pasture, all nice and fat and happy.

This skein is 180 yards, and weighs 2.7 oz. We micron test our flock every year, our average fiber diameter is in the low 20's, so this wool can be worn next to the skin with little or no irritation. I wash, flick and spin this yarn here in my farm workshop, all by hand.

We breed for soft, fine, crimpy shetland wool, so the skein is nice and bouncy and elastic.
