This fleece is from our ewe Carmen. She is a fawn katmoget ewe born in 2022, so this is her lamb fleece.
Her fleece weight is 13.0 oz. Heavily skirted. Ewe was coated in the fall before we started giving them hay.
So Carmen was named after the character from Bizet's opera, Carmen. She lives up to the name as she is brave and friendly and just has a very big personality. She is one of the bigger lambs from last year. And she was not happy being roo'd as she didn't care for the idea that she wasn't in charge of the whole show.
I included a copy of the micron data for this fleece in the photos.
Here is a video that demonstrates how I flick card a soft shetland fleece:
Depending on how her fleece washes up, I might skip the flicking or combing, and just put it on a drum carder a few times, very slowly cranking and then diz it off as roving to spin.
